Update from Kevin Davis, May 5, 2012
Ilija is still in Sunnybrook. I went there on Thursday afternoon and when I arrived at his room, he was supported in a chair. He looked at me as I walked in, and as always, I said hello and gave him the opportunity to reply. It didn't come this time, but I'll remain hopeful that one day I'll walk in there and say "Hey Ilija, it's me Kevin" and he'll say "Hey, Kevin, how are you?"
After the nurses had been in to put him back into the bed, I proceeded to tell him some news. I told him about our team and what his friends have been up to, where we rode yesterday, about the real racing in Europe and anything else I thought he might like to hear.
I'm sure he enjoys listening, although this time he was a little exhausted from having been in the chair. Jackie told me about how earlier that day, the physiotherapist had him hold his head up by himself for a good 30 seconds. It's good news, and just one more thing that can give hope that one day a recovery will come.
